US Customs Broker

Trade compliance consultants

As a full-service Customs House Broker, Customs Gurus provides expertise to importers to ensure their success in the global marketplace. We provide nationwide customs clearance, importer security filing, and classification services for businesses of all sizes.

Businesses and Individuals have a complex set of regulations that must be navigated when they decide to become an importer. To ease the burden, it is recommended that a licensed customs broker be hired to ensure federal regulations are adhered to and to prevent costly delays at the border. Here at Customs Gurus we do more than just file documents with US Customs. We arrange your import bonds, assist with HTS classification, audit your transactions to look for risk or savings, and communicate with your transportation carriers so you always have a trusted partner looking out for your interests.

Freight Forwarders are not always licensed customs brokers. Customs Gurus is a perfect partner for this situation because we don’t sell freight so we can assist with servicing your customers without competing for business.

Services

Customs Gurus provides entry filing and customs clearance for all products and all businesses. Our knowledgeable team of Licensed Customs Brokers will get your goods cleared efficiently and on their way to their final destination!

The customs clearance process starts before the freight leaves origin. The ISF data elements are transmitted to CBP no later than 24 hours prior to vessel departure. In addition to being a federal regulation, correct information is imperative because CBP uses the data to asses risk and determine which freight will be examined upon arrival in the US.

Partner Governmental Agency (PGA) Filing

CBP enforces regulations for more than 30 Partner Government Agencies (PGA). Customs Gurus uses the ACE single window to file your PGA documentation simultaneously with your Customs Entry, streamlining the process and reducing the time for clearance and delivery of your goods. We can also work with you to determine which PGA filings are required to import your goods

Sometimes mistakes happen, other times new information is available after the entry is filed. In these situations, Customs Gurus can process the corrections electronically to ensure you are in compliance and you don’t over pay duty.

When an entry is liquidated, meaning it is final with CBP, but new information becomes available from either an error that was discovered or a law that changed, Customs Gurus can prepare and file a Protest to correct the information. Most times, a protest is filed when an importer determines that duty was overpaid and they desire to get it back. This is time sensitive, so as soon as the situation is identified call us and we will get the process started to maximize duty opportunity

The importer is responsible for correctly classifying the products they import under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). Our team of Licensed Customs Brokers, Gurus, is proficient in classification and utilizes all necessary resources to determine the correct tariff codes efficiently and accurately. We can assist in both small and large classification projects as needs dictate.

Binding Rulings

From time to time a new product comes to market and the HTS classification unable to be determined, or an importer wants to ensure CBP agrees with a classification choice before the HTS is used. In these cases a binding ruling can be requested which will ensure CBP can never again challenge the classification of a certain product.  Customs Gurus can assist with the research and prepare rulings on your behalf.

It is a federal requirement that all imports be secured by an Import Bond to protect the revenue of the United States. Customs Gurus can assist with determining bond amounts, bond types, and purchasing bonds on your behalf.
